EACD Early Career Researchers' Forum: Annual Meeting

When: 28 September 2023, 18:30-20:00h CET (Brussels time)

Where: Online (Zoom)

Dear Early Career Researchers, welcome to the Early Career Researchers' (ECR) Forum Annual Meeting 2023. We are delighted to announce that our online Annual Meeting will start with an inspiring lecture. We will continue to explore the theme of family and patient involvement, and we are thrilled to introduce Professor Chris Morris, leader of the Peninsula Childhood Disability Research Unit (PenCRU) as our distinguished lecturer.

Prof. Chris Morris leads PenCRU: the Peninsula Childhood Disability Research Unit, which undertakes a programme of applied health research aimed at identifying ways to improve the health and wellbeing of disabled children and their families. PenCRU involves families of disabled children as partners in all the activities of the unit through our Family Faculty. The vision for PenCRU is to work in partnership with families, clinicians and commissioners as the principal users of our research findings.

In the session, Chris will provide a brief overview of the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) landscape, where it has come from and its rationale. He will share his experience of how PenCRU have partnered with families across a range of studies to drive and shape their research. Chris will outline examples of good practice in childhood disability research and reporting guidelines for PPIE so we can learn together. There will be a time for attendees to ask questions and engage in discussion.

Following the lecture, around 19.30h CET, we will transition into our online Annual Meeting, during which we will present our activities, acknowledge the outgoing board, and propose new board members.

We look forward to welcoming you to ECR forum annual meeting.
