EACD Early Career Researchers' Forum: Annual Meeting

Dear Early Career Researchers, we would like to welcome you to the Early Career Researchers' (ECR) Forum Annual Meeting 2024. We are excited to announce that, just like last year, our ECRF Annual Meeting will begin with an inspiring lecture. This is a unique opportunity to hear from this year’s speaker: Laurent Servais, Professor of Paediatric Neuromuscular Diseases, MDUK Oxford Neuromuscular Centre, who will share his experiences with international collaboration in research. 

Following the lecture, at approximately 19:30h CEST, we will transition into our online ECRF Annual Meeting. During this session, we will present our activities, acknowledge the outgoing board, and propose new board members.

Prof Laurent Servais is a leading expert in paediatric neuromuscular diseases and was one of the keynote speakers at last year’s EACD conference in Ljubljana. He currently leads the national newborn screening program for SMA in Southern Belgium and a pilot project in the Thames Valley, UK.

In the session, Prof Laurent Servais will discuss what it’s like to conduct research in a rapidly evolving international field, offering his insights on the pace of advancements in neuromuscular diseases. He will share practical tips for building successful international collaborations and provide advice on navigating the complexities that arise in such research environment. Prof Servais will also highlight key developments in the field and offer strategies for researchers seeking to contribute meaningfully to international research.
